Easter Vigil

Welcome Three New Catholic Christians

At our Easter Vigil here at Our Mother of Good Counsel on March 31, our Parish Community welcomed three young women to the Catholic Church who had been preparing for this joyful moment since beginning their journeys through the RCIA process. Camille Kautzmann, a student at Eastern College was the first to begin this journey in October 2016;Moira Smith, wife of parishioner, Reed Smith, and mother of year-old son, Hale, joined Camille in September 2017; and a young member of our Youth Group, 13 year-old Eva Taberski were welcomed into discipleship with Jesus Christ and into the Catholic Christian community through their reception of the Sacraments of Baptism,Confirmation and Eucharist which they received during the Easter Vigil Liturgy. It was truly a joyous and glorious celebration from beginning to end.

These 3 newly-initiated members will continue to meet occasionally with those who have been accompanying them up to this moment of their journey. Camille and Moira will continue to meet with members of the RCIA Team and Eva will continue to meet with Karen Carey who has been preparing Eva along the way. This 4th and final step of the RCIA process is called mystagogy, a Greek word referring to the “study of the mystery”of iving life more fully aware that Jesus is Lord. Pentecost Sunday brings this year’s process to a close, until new candidates express an interest in
beginning a new process.
