Shepherds of Bethlehem

The tragic violence in the Middle East and the highly restrictive policies imposed on Palestinians has created severe economic instability for the Palestinian Christians who live in the area of Bethlehem, a name which means “House of Bread.”
Current travel restrictions imposed on Palestine have dramatically reduced both pilgrimages and tourism. The livelihood of these Christian families is severely threatened.

Rafat Hilal (Ray) is part of a group of Palestinian Christians known as Shepherds of Bethlehem who travel around our country selling carvings of Christmas scenes. The Shepherds will display these carvings after the scheduled Masses on the weekend of May 26 and 27th. Your purchase, however small or big, will be an act of social justice as well as provide an opportunity to own or give as gifts original folk art from Bethlehem.
