About Us

As a community of faith we have not only a right, but a responsibility to proclaim the Good News of Christ - over a hundred years of faith and service by, for, and to the people of Our Mother of Good Counsel. We celebrate not only our share in the church of Bryn Mawr, Haverford and this surrounding area, but also our part with the People of God from Rome to Chulucanas, from Villanova to Nagasaki and from Merion to Lima. Our people have ministered to one another, to the People of God, to teach, guide and sanctify. We cannot be silent, for the stones themselves would shout for joy and gratitude.

We ask Our Mother of Good Counsel with the simplicity of children, her children, "Mother, tell us what are we to do?" As our patronness, she has guided us through the past and we have the faith and service of years behind us to know that we can always depend on that guidance as we continue our faith and service to and for the Lord, Jesus Christ, as parishioners of Our Mother of Good Counsel Parish Community.

Our Mission

We, the Roman Catholic parish community of Our Mother of Good Counsel, recognize our call to grow in relationship of love and service toward God, the human family, and all creation.

The life and mission of Jesus Christ give meaning to all that we are and all that we do. As a community of believers, we:

  • worship God by fostering full, active, conscious participation of all parishioners in the liturgical life of the Church and in personal prayer;
  • practice stewardship as a way of life that calls us to share our time, talent, and treasure for the common good of our parish, Church, society and world;
  • recognize that we are Christ's disciples, called to reach out to all persons by proclaiming the gospel in word and action; providing opportunities for deepening the faith of all members; and welcoming those who seek membership in the Church;
  • foster the twin virtues of justice and charity. Justice calls us into right relationship with God, one another and the earth. Charity calls us to respond in love to the needs of others.
