St. John the Evangelist

Evangelization

We are a community of people who recognize that we are Christ's disciples, called to reach out to all persons by proclaiming the Gospel in word and action; providing opportunities for deepening the faith of all members; and welcoming those who seek membership in the Church.

Our Mission
  • To accompany those who are unbaptized, or baptized and are seeking full communion with the Catholic Church through the RCIA process.
  • To be available to Catholics who have been away from the Church and who desire to be re-connected with their faith community.

Adult Enrichment Programs

The opportunity for women and men to come together on a regular basis to study, learn and experience the richness of the Christian life is offered in a variety of ways:

Spiritual Reading Forum

This group meets once a month on Friday morning to reflect on and discuss reading done during the month from spiritual books mutually agreed upon by the participants.

Scripture Sharing

During the four weeks of Advent and the six weeks of Lent, we gather to reflect on the readings of each Sunday's liturgy on the preceding Tuesday.

Periodic Lectures

Lectures on present-day topics are scheduled in advance and notice is given in the parish bulletin. A four-week series may be offered in the spring during the Lenten or Easter seasons.

Retreats

During the summer, usually in July, an Evening of Retreat is offered, joining with parishioners of our sister parish, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, and St. Thomas of Villanova parish, as part of the Bridge of Faith program.

In the fall, a Day of Retreat, from 10:00am to 2:00pm, is offered at St. Raphaela Center for parishioners and their friends.
