St. Brigid of Kildare

Religious Education

The Parish Minister of Religious Education works to develop programs to suit the needs of all the parishioners in the area of Religious Education. This includes PREP (CCD) classes, Youth Ministry, Adult Education, Liturgy of the Word for Children, Sacramental Preparation and any other areas of education for which there is a need.

Parish Religious Education Program (PREP)

Our Mother of Good Counsel ministers to the religious education needs of the entire parish community. CCD Classes are held on Sundays for children ages 4 through 6th or 7th grade in which we strive to teach doctrines and traditions of the Catholic faith, and to develop an atmosphere of prayer and worship. Adults are always needed to help catechize.

Sacramental Preparation

Preparation for the Sacraments of Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Confirmation (celebrated every other year) is incorporated into the program and involves the candidate, parent(s) and entire parish community, including those children who attend the parish school.

Liturgy of the Word for Children (LWC)

At specified Masses, children ages 5 through 12 are invited to join a trained minister in the Daily Chapel before the Liturgy of the Word begins. The minister is specially trained to provide children with a simpler understanding of the Liturgy of the Word. This is done through storytelling, drama, song and discussion, and is conducted in a liturgical manner. Children then return to the congregation for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

If you have questions about any of these programs, please don't hesitate to contact Karen Carey, our Minister of Religious Education, by phone (610-525-0147 ext 258) or email.
